Bubbly Creek Rowing Foundation in Head of the Charles
The Bubbly Creek Rowing Foundation has an entry lined up for this year's Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA! The race will take place this October 20th and the entry is for a Men's 4+ in the club event.
NU Crew alums Mark Klitgaard, Darin Messina, Brian Wedel and Derek Roller will row with coxswain Jody Koplo. We encourage everyone in the area (or not) to make the trip to Boston for this incredible race. Not only is the race a blast, but BCRF's rowers will appreciate any support you can offer!
Scheduling specifics have been released. Northwestern Crew has five boats in the Charles this year (3 men's and 2 women's entries). The race times for NU Crew are below:
- Men's Collegiate 4+ Saturday 1:43PM
- Women's Collegiate 4+ Saturday 1:55PM
- Men's Lightweight 4+ Sunday 2:13PM
- Women's Lightweight 4+ Sunday 2:24PM
- Men's Lightweight 8 Sunday 2:42PM
The BCRF alumni boat will be racing on Saturday at 12:10PM.
If you can't make it to the races, you are still more than welcome to join NU Crew on Saturday night from 6-9PM at a party hosted by NU Crew's founder Derrick Grava. Mr. Grava will be hosting an informal gathering at his home at 116 Charles Street, Apartment #4. It's in Beacon Hill, a couple of blocks from the Charles Street / MGH T stop and a couple of blocks from the Charles River! We look forward to seeing you there!
If you want more information about the race head on over to the HOCR official website. You can also contact Derek if you have any specific questions about where NU Crew will be. Currently, the best advice would be to head to the Finish Area Launching Site (FALS - map) and look for the NU Crew trailer (they will fly a flag or post an oar). Rowers in the area can then direct you to where supporters are gathering (usually up the course slightly from the FALS area). We look forward to seeing everyone there later this month!
